BARCC offers internships for undergraduate and graduate students in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Education, Public Health, Public Policy, Public Relations, Marketing, Management, and Gender/Women's Studies. Summer internships and full-year internships are available. Semester-long internships may be created under special circumstances. In general, internships are volunteer positions that require working eight to 25 hours a week, depending on school requirements. Our interns work alongside BARCC staff in all programs.
Unless otherwise noted, all internships that include direct service work with survivors and/or communities require completion of rape crisis counselor training. BARCC's trainings are 40 hours long. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory and must be completed before an intern can begin working with clients or the public. Year-long interns must attend training in August. The next training will be held the week of August 28, 2012.
Interns in BARCC's Community Awareness and Prevention Services (CAPS), Medical Advocacy, and Hotline programs also must attend bi-weekly peer supervision meetings.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2012. All of our Summer 2012 internships have been filled.
